Comment from #%Malcolm at 11:17 on 11_07_06 Today's the Day! Have the electorate woken up enough to vote wisely? We shall see in about 12.00 hours. President Bush has exploited and lied to the american people, ruthlessly pushing hi sown agenda with scant regard for the basic principles of Democracy. May this be the day when the people finally speak loud and throw out his Republican base. Comment from #%malcolm at 19:18 on 10_17_06 My wife Cynthia has been writing about Power and Wisdom for the daily Journal Entry for the Wisdom Wheel. It is a subject that intrigues me greatly. Very few people with Power, in the conventional sense, have Wisdom. (And of course) the corollary very few people with Wisdom need much Power. (For their Power is felt within and does not need to be acquired outside).
I think of programmers who feel the need to write virus software and attack computers completely unknown to them. What do they get out of that exercise? Virus detection and prevention is a billion dollar industry and wastes inordinate amounts of time.
We used to say that "Knowledge was Power", but knowledge missapplied can be dangerous and in today's complex world what is knowledge anyway?
I sense that as I become older I am becoming wiser and I have less of a need to be Powerful. Having freedom gives us Power. The power to make choices. Making good choices comes from our Wisdom.
Comment from #%Malcolm at 10:38 on 10_13_06 One of my quips from years ago is "everything must stand up to key yechnical scrutiny". Why have we shied away from our task? The talking heads speak of family values, and Christian morals, but I see all around me behaviour which is the antithesis of moral, Christlike thinking. I am not speaking of knee jerk issues such as abortion, rather the lies and skullduggery which permeate Washington and beyond these shores. When are people going to demand accountability from their elected representitives? Fiscally, intellectually, and morally. We glibly talk about anti abortion positions, yet we ignore the thousands of children who die each day from malnutrition and lack of clean, fresh water.
We grow fat in the Western world, while others starve. We become sick and drain the coffers of central government because of our slothful ways, brought on in part because of exploitation and spiritual laziness.
In short the american dream has turned into a nightmare, because we have not held ourselves accountable to a set of standards we glibly cite to our children and to our global neighbors. Comment from #%Malcolm at 10:23 on 09_25_06 Monday Morning: I read an advert in a recent issue of Time Magazine which started out, "Who leaves no paper trail, kills women, and children, destroys homes,....? (or words to that effect)", and I'm thinking of all the usual suspects, then they answer "The enemy is Mother Nature!"
The whole point of the advert was about hurricane damage and how to protect ourselves.
Mother Nature, gives us everything we need to survive, our food, warmth, clothing, fuel, and all raw materials for products we use each day. The air we breath, and the light we need to go about our daily business. The enemy indeed, Mother Nature is our friend, it is we, who behave as the enemy. We must learn to live in harmony with mother nature, respecting her ways and honoring her gifts. Hurricanes are a natural part of the weather patterns each year why do we not build communities in a manner to accomodate the intensity of these storms?
We cannot control nature, but we can larn from her. Comment from #%malcolm at 12:00 on 09_10_06 My wife, Cynthia has begun a new law on the Wisdom Wheel recently, the law of Pure Potential. She talks about having the "potential" for Balance, Awareness, Self and so on.
I often think about man's Potential for good, and the chances we have squandered. When I reflect upon our place in the Universe, I see that we have chosen war over peace and lies over truth continuously.
Will we ever make the wise choice and live up to our full potential? for every leader, for every Bobby Kennedy there is a George Bush. For every Churchill there is a Mussolini.
People do have so much potential for good, will the system ever allow goodness to prevail? Comment from #%Malcolm at 22:48 on 09_05_06 Today would have been my father's birthday. 87 years old, but sadly he died earlier this year. On my birthday in April. I feel closer to him now than I did when he was alive. It is as if I can connect to his spirit and not be influenced by his ego. I woner what the world would be like if we shelved our ego self. Many people on a spiritual path say we must try to go beyond the ego, transcend it. Yet what do we do if someone invades our space? Just let them walk all over us? The schoolyard bully has no place in today's world, when the weakest and most vulnerable of us die at the rate of 5 million per year.
Terrorists don't kill but possibly 0.1 % of that number. Yet we spend a lot more money on that fight than the war on poverty!
My father fought in the second world war and was a brave man. I would like to hve shared in his bravery! Comment from #%Malcolm at 10:02 on 09_04_06 Right on schedule, I read an article this morning about global warming. Have we pushed the earth too far?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/01/AR2006090101800.html Comment from #%Malcolm at 19:40 on 09_03_06 It's hard to believe that we are inching ever closer to the beginning of Autumn. As the baby boomers age and more and more people turn 60 I wonder if we stop and think about the legacy we will leave?
Humanity has so much potential, yet it would appear that we continually retreat from embracing our strengths and real spiritual power.
Politicians continue to spread the gospel concerning terrorists, yest 5 million children die each year from preventable diseases. We face a far bigger threat over the next 40 years than from terrorists, and that is the changes taking place with the environment. I wonder how bad it must become before we actually begin to make the changes necessary.
Lee Iacoca recently asked "where the leaders are?" If he wants to look around, real leaders for the challenges of tomorrow exist already, it's just he isn't ready to acknowledge them, for they do not reside in the boardrooms of Europe or America.
They reside in the woods, and communities, they know nature, they have compassion, and they have respect for their colleagues and subordinates.

The flower had peeked, slumped forward
in the long shadow of age
pumpkin focused youths passed by towards the barn
for cider, apples, gnarly squash and autumnal treats
Faces imagined, beckoned from the pumpkin patch
Pirates and clowns, old men and goblins
Blinded they were to that solitary flower
Past its best maybe, but still magnificent
Greens and reds splashed on a canvas of browns and yellows
scented petals were lost amidst the dash
and headlong rush towards tomorrow;
watch the bee nervously sip the nectar
wait and drink yourself, deeply
through the nostrils
chest expanding eyes closed
for this fragrance can take you back,
back to yesterday
and further down the lane of memories
to treasured youth
that, paradox revealed,
does hold the secret of next year
Does sweetness die because we do not see
stop awhile and smell the rose
white coats and riches have tried to
emulate this scent and failed
so next time in the field
slowly must you walk
focus on the journey
and less upon the quest
focus on the flower
and see that you are blessed.

SEEKING
Someone seeking someone somewhere
Convinced they will find the perfect mate
Outside
To mask the imperfections felt within
“Sweet, Sassy and Sexy waits for
Great Guy with Gorgeous Bod”
And waits in vain, the trip’s insane
who’s to blame for this tragic game?
They meet, but something is missing
yet somehow they end up kissing
He’s in for the chase
And it’s back to her place
For momentary fulfillment
Euphoric stock market joy
Transient illusion
And the cum shot is gone forever
Leaving someone seeking someone again.

Tea in the Afternoon
A sip of tea, and a curved breast, pink with biscuit
chocolate digestive, firm protrusions, wait expectantly
aromas of Earl Grey and pheromones co-mingle
exciting the reptilian in me.
I thirst for days like this, apart from reality
computers take me away from the earth
this brings me back, moist excitement
Of years BC, Christ and Computers
when we lay on the forest floor and loved
in the late day sun and fingers roamed over flesh
long before keyboards, a digit pressed on lip
instead of key and mouse.
I savor these times of lusty consumption
Contentment felt at urges end
now for tea and crumpet
Tea in the afternoon, tea in the afternoon.
